Job Summary

3sHealth is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our amazing and dedicated Payroll team.

Our Payroll Officers deliver timely and accurate full-cycle payroll services for 3sHealth and the Saskatchewan health system, which includes:

  • compiling and processing weekly payroll in accordance with legislative requirements, collective agreements, and company policies and procedures;
  • maintaining the integrity of employee data entered into the payroll system and processing staffing changes, such as new hires, terminations, employee status changes, and salary changes;
  • preparing, sorting, and filing a variety of reports including remittances, monthly reports;
  • year-end processing, including T4 preparation;
  • preparing ad hoc and standard payroll reports, such as time-usage, accruals, and payroll audit reports; and
  • partnering with Human Resources and Finance teams to continuously improve processes and to support organizational initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will have payroll experience, demonstrate a high attention to detail; and display a commitment to client service.

This is a one year, temporary opportunity with the possibility of extension.

Required Qualifications

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the CPA, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems such as Word, Outlook, and Excel

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues and develop/recommend solutions
  • Ability to manage conflict in real time and focus on problem solving
  • Ability to manage time and set personal goals and priorities to achieve department results
  • Ability to understand customer needs and identify improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team
  • Commitment to client service, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Must be a competent writer and have the ability to communicate with peers and customers effectively to meet work objectives
  • Knowledge of lean processes would be considered an asset

Experience

  • Minimum of one year experience with payroll processing and data entry
  • Experience maintaining a human resource information system (HRIS) an asset
  • Previous experience processing medium scale payroll (for 650+ employees) belonging to various employee groups and unions is considered an asset
  • Experience creating reports and strong proficiency with Excel is preferred
