Job Summary
3sHealth is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our outstanding Payroll Team.
Our Payroll Officers deliver timely and accurate full-cycle payroll services for 3sHealth and the Saskatchewan health system, which includes:
- Accurately prepare and process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring timely disbursement;
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in job titles, assignments, employment status, salaries, and deductions;
- Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve discrepancies promptly and professionally;
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and territorial payroll regulations, collective agreements, and company policies;
- Complete year-end processing, including T4 preparation;
- Prepare and distribute ad hoc and standard payroll reports, including time and earnings, accruals, payroll audits, remittances, and monthly reports;
- Coordinate with the benefits team to ensure accurate deductions and contributions for employee benefits;
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information at all times; and
- Partner with human resources and finance teams to continuously improve processes and support organizational initiatives.
To excel in this role, you will have payroll experience, high attention to detail, and a strong commitment to client service. This is a one-year, temporary opportunity with the possibility of extension.

Required Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the National Payroll Institute, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to identify the root cause of issues and develop/recommend solutions
- Ability to manage conflict in real time and focus on problem solving
- Ability to manage time and set personal goals and priorities to achieve department results
- Ability to understand customer needs and identify improvement opportunities
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team
- Commitment to client service, teamwork, and collaboration
- Strong writing skills and exceptional communication with peers and customers to achieve work objectives
- Knowledge of lean processes would be considered an asset
Experience
- Proven experience as a payroll specialist or similar role, with a minimum of one year of experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and labor laws in Canada
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., HRIS, Oracle)
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees and management
- Certification in Payroll from the National Payroll Institute
- Previous experience processing medium-scale payroll (for 1000+ employees) belonging to various employee groups and unions is considered an asset
- Experience creating reports and strong proficiency with Excel is preferred
