Annual process for student benefits verification

If your child is over the age of 21 and attending an accredited post-secondary institution, you need to verify your child’s student status with 3sHealth every year to maintain their benefits coverage.

In July, you will receive a letter and an “Annual Dependent Verification” form to complete and return to 3sHealth. We must receive the completed form by September 1 or your child’s extended health care and dental coverage will end. Please note that coverage for students automatically ends when one of the following events occurs: they stop attending a post-secondary institution, they get married, or they turn 26 years of age.

If your dependent child is attending an accredited post-secondary institution outside of Canada, they can still be covered for benefits. Certain plan limitations will apply. Please contact Employee Benefit Plans for more information by emailing us at, or by phoning us at 1.866.278.2301.
