Health, dental care included in survivor benefits for plan member families

3sHealth's Employee Benefit Plans include family coverage even after a plan member's death.

If you pass away while insured under the Extended Health Care and Dental Plan, coverage will automatically continue for your eligible spouse and children.

Extended Health Care and Dental claims will continue to be paid to the earliest of:

  • Two years from the date of your death, or
  • The date your spouse remarries.

There is no cost for this extension of coverage to your surviving spouse and children. Coverage will automatically be continued upon 3sHealth Employee Benefits receiving notification of your death. New pay direct drug cards will be issued to your surviving spouse and children.

The Group Life Insurance Plan paid $13,136,232 to members in 2022, including $12,311,232 paid to loved ones when a plan member passed away.

As of December 31, 2022, there were 46,483 plan members across Saskatchewan enrolled in the Group Life Insurance Plan, with approximately $6.2 billion of life insurance coverage in place.
