How does my drug coverage work?
Sep 09, 2024
The Extended Health Care Plans provide plan members and their eligible dependents with coverage for prescription drugs.
Which prescription drugs are covered?
The plan covers charges for prescription drugs if they are:
- Listed on the Saskatchewan Formulary (a listing of drugs approved under the Saskatchewan provincial drug plan);
- Medically necessary;
- Prescribed by a licensed physician; and
- Dispensed by a registered pharmacist.
Submitting drug claims for reimbursement
You have options when it comes to submitting drug claims for reimbursement.
Using your convenient pay direct drug card
- Present your prescription and pay direct drug card to the pharmacist.
- The pharmacy submits your claims to be assessed in real time, then and there.
- Pay a $10 deductible for each prescription, plus any amount that the plan does not cover
Submitting an online or paper claim
- Present your prescriptions to the pharmacist.
- Pay the full amount of your prescriptions.
- Submit the claim on My Canada Life at Work or fill out a paper claim form. Send the claim forms and the receipts to Canada Life.
- Canada Life assesses your claim submission.
- You are reimbursed the full amount that the plan covers, less a $9 per family, per day deductible.
