Acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles through the skin at certain points on the body to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.

Acupuncture is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions, including:

• Headaches, tension headaches, and migraines;
• Dental pain;
• Lower back pain;
• Neck pain;
• Osteoarthritis;
• Chemotherapy-induced and postoperative nausea and vomiting;
• Addiction; and
• Respiratory disorders, such as asthma.

Your benefit plan covers charges for acupuncture services provided by a licensed acupuncturist. You are covered to a maximum of $400 per insured person per calendar year.
