Over 800 Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) contracted physicians now have access to the 3sHealth-administered Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). Their immediate families and dependents will also benefit from the coverage.

These physicians join over 48,800 fellow health-care employees currently part of the program.

The Morneau Shepell EFAP service provides members with immediate and confidential help for any work, health, or life concern. Services available include family, legal, financial, and health and wellness support, as well as counselling services. Learn more here.

“Taking care of yourself and your family is how we, as physicians, take care of others,” says Dr. Susan Shaw, Chief Medical Officer of the SHA, in a letter to physicians. “Self-care is ‘putting on your own oxygen mask first’ and the pandemic has shown us all the importance of taking care of each other and ourselves. The care we provide to our patients is only as strong as the care we are able to provide to ourselves. I encourage all SHA contracted physicians to practice self-care and access the support options available through EFAP.”

“In these changing and stressful times, our own personal well-being can be at risk,” says Dr. Joy Dobson, 3sHealth’s Senior Physician Consultant. “It is a comfort to know that physicians now have improved access to workplace supports to help manage the challenges.”
